Key Fob Programming in Concord by Todos Santos Lock Co.
1You give the street and say what the opening is doing; the hardware on that street is usually already known.
2The van leaves Todos Santos Plaza, and a text names the technician and a thirty-minute window.
3The opening is made without damage wherever the mechanism allows, and the receipt carries the figure you were given.

Nearly all the fob work in a year comes down to three situations. A household adds a driver, usually a student running out to Diablo Valley College, and wants a second fob. Somebody buys a fob online, follows the listing instructions and cannot get the car to accept it. Or the only fob a commuter car has ever had goes through a wash cycle in a jacket pocket, or ends up somewhere on the platform at Concord BART. Push-button cars and hybrids fill plenty of driveways in this city now, so proximity fobs outnumber plain remotes on these calls. Either type is programmed where the car stands, in a Sun Terrace driveway, a staff yard on Bates Avenue or a row at the mall, on the day you ring.

Everything hinges on a small printed label inside the case, and reading it first is the difference between a twenty-minute visit and a wasted one. That label gives a part number and a frequency. A meaningful share of the fobs bought online turn out to be built for another market entirely, or to be copies that accept a pairing and then quietly lose it a week later. Checking the label against the vehicle before enrollment starts means any mismatch surfaces at your kitchen table rather than in a parking row. A fob that matches is written to the car through the port beneath the dash, generally inside twenty minutes. You say whether the fobs still in your possession should remain authorized and whether the lost one is struck out. Every button is then exercised in turn, along with the trunk release and a live start. Where the whole fault turns out to be a dead coin cell or a case split along its seam, that is the repair and that is the charge. Phone-as-key gets configured alongside on the models that support it.

The range for fob work is $89 to $179 per fob, and $89 is the floor because that is the visit itself, never a separate charge underneath. Pairing a fob you already hold to a common Japanese or domestic car is $89 and nothing beyond it. Supplying a proximity fob for a push-button car, or working through a make that requires a manufacturer security session over the internet, takes it to $179. Evening work is $129 and overnight is $164, both inside the range and both named while you are booking. Where the car needs a cut blade as well as a fob, the two are quoted together as one figure under key replacement rather than becoming two visits.

You call and give the street or the lot and what the car is doing: year, make, model, where it is parked, and where the fob came from. The figure is said on the call. The van leaves Todos Santos Plaza, and a text names the technician and gives a thirty-minute window; sixteen to thirty-one minutes covers Concord. The label is checked against the car, the fob is enrolled, the missing one is erased if you want it gone, and every button plus the start is tried before anything is signed. The receipt carries the figure you were given and goes out from the parking space.

Our house went up in 1962 and we finally admitted we had no idea how many keys were out there after thirty years of neighbors and dog sitters. I gave the street and said five cylinders: front, back, the slider bar, the garage side door and the gate. $172 for the lot, one figure, and it did not change. He repinned everything rather than selling me new locks, which was the point, and handed back the old keys in a bag so I could count them against what I had in the drawer. One key opens the whole property now.

Every job is priced from the list below. Most of this city was fitted with the same few locks between 1955 and 1968, so the street usually settles the figure on the call, and the receipt carries it unchanged.

FAQ

Key Fob Programming: quick answers

Can you tell me on the call whether the fob I ordered will pair?+

Open the case, photograph the label and send it in when you call. A part number and frequency that agree with your vehicle mean it will almost certainly enroll. The failures are nearly always one of two things: a unit built for another market on the wrong frequency, or a copy that pairs happily and then forgets itself within days. Establishing that from a photograph costs nothing at all, and it is a much better place to find out than the parking lot.

Neither fob for our push-button car has turned up. Does losing both change the work?+

Only marginally. Enrollment runs through the port under the dash whether or not a working fob is sitting on the passenger seat, and on the makes where an existing one helps, all it does is shave a few minutes off the session. What genuinely matters with none of them accounted for is clearing the old ones out of the vehicle memory, and that is done during the same session rather than charged as anything separate.

The fob locks and unlocks the doors but the car will not start with it.+

Those are two different radios doing two different jobs, which is why one can work while the other does not. Locking runs on the remote side; starting depends on the immobilizer recognizing the transponder, and a fob can be paired for one and not the other, particularly a used one bought online. It gets enrolled properly on the immobilizer side during the visit. If the fob is genuine and simply weak, the first thing tried is a fresh coin cell, and where that is the whole answer that is all you pay for.

Give the street, hear the figure, and the door gets opened the way it was built to be opened

Concord, Pleasant Hill, Pacheco, Clayton, Martinez and Walnut Creek, 24/7, holidays included. Say what the door is doing and one figure comes back with the $89 visit already inside it and the hour already counted. The lock is opened without damage wherever it can be, and the receipt shows what the call showed, whether the deed is in your name or the lease is.
